Why are Photo Quotes so Popular?

Quotes have been popular for a very long time, and adding a visual element like an image makes them that much more powerful and appealing. No wonder they go viral so fast!

We love photo quotes because:

  • They contain beautiful images that capture our imagination
  • They can be very motivational
  • They can be used to create or supplement your dream/vision boards
  • They are often memorable because the image sticks in your mind
  • They bring old familiar sayings to life with bright colorful images
  • They sometimes echo what we know in our hearts and souls to be true
  • They sometimes answer a question we may have been carrying around
  • They often have a personal connection with us

Why are Quotes Important?

Quotes are important because it’s a way of preserving history. We’ve all heard the quote; “Give me liberty or give me death”. This quote by Patrick Henry dates back to 1775 and is synonymous with the Revolutionary War.

There are quotes going back much further than that and they all help us connect with the past. Here are a few more reasons why quotes are important.

  • They are often motivating and inspirational
  • They often offer good advice
  • They can be passed down from generation to generation
  • They can help to plant knowledge that can grow and spread
  • Quotes can be timeless
  • They often share important, witty and relevant thoughts
  • They can help people that are struggling by offering a different point of view for personal situations
  • They can change a person’s perspective by providing additional knowledge

Obviously the best quotes are memorable and stand the test of time

How to Come up with Your Own Quotes

So given all of that; how can you come up with your own quotes? You probably come up with good quotes all of the time and don’t even realize it. They often are inspired by everyday situations and how you deal with those situations.

Also times of crises will produce some great quotes. How do you get through the tough times? You have to keep yourself going, and those feelings, emotions and thoughts that keep you going, will inspire quotes.

These will be your own personal quotes that you can call upon in the future to help yourself or someone else though challenging situations.

You can also take a well-known quote and tweak it to your own situation. I often tell my kids not to let fear control their lives. This is a derivative of Franklin D Roosevelt’s famous quote:

“The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.”

Think of things that really connect with you. For instance if you love art you can compare it to life in general. “Art is like life, the more color, creativity and imagination it has the more interesting it is.” This is what I like to call the Forest Gump style quote!

What you believe and what feels right to you is what counts, and of course will resonate with you. So, don’t worry about what other people think, if it hits home for them great, if not it’s still great!

Think of something unique to your own personal moral, social and ethical views. Such as,

“Negative people are a dime a dozen, and they’re overpaid!”

Draw on your own life experiences for inspiration.

“Raising kids is the most frustrating, painful, agonizing, stressful; yet most rewarding, satisfying, exhilarating and fulfilling jobs in the world”.

Movies offer some great quotes that apply to everyday life that can be personalized for your needs. Heck, we named our youngest son Luke, and I was thrilled because I could quote Darth Vader in Star Wars, and say:

He’s only 8 and is already tired of hearing it!

Think about things your parents have said to you and build on that. Kids are naturally inquisitive and my mother would often say to us; “You don’t believe fat meat is greasy.” I’m not sure why, but that has stuck with me all of these years.

The most important thing is to have fun with it and be yourself. Who knows; you may create the next famous quote that last through the ages!

“So let it be written, so let it be done.”
